Older Student trying to break in

New user here but I am 24 years old. After high school I went directly to a small local business school. But for a few reasons I wont get into I had to drop out and take a year off. I have since enrolled in a community college to complete the transfer requirements and am now applying to MSU and UMichigan. My question is do I stand a chance of landing a job in this field? By the time I graduate I will probably be 26 years old. Do people my age get entry level positions or are we passed up for younger people who can put in more hours? Would I have to take a lower salary than most?
Basically Im wondering if its worth it for me to take out loans to go to a better school to get a job I want, or should I accept defeat and go to a cheaper local school.

You stand a chance assuming you get relevant work experience while you're a student. Don't be that guy who thinks their unrelated experience before school means something. Don't think that because you were a store manager at Dominoes for 4 years that your resume is better than a 20 year old with 6 months as a ML PWM intern.

Put in the effort, get solid grades and relevant internships then you'll be in good shape. You have to be willing to put in the hours. You won't have to sacrifice salary if you're truly worth what you expect. Only take out the loans if you KNOW you're going to get a degree that will be worth something.

I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.
