scientist trying to find something else

Hi everyone,
I'm working on my PhD in Chemistry and will be finished in about a year. I'd like to transition into something different afterwards (i.e. anything outside of R&D). I'm not quite sure what I want, so I'm looking here to find out what opportunities there are for scientists. I am very interested in anything to do with marketing, sales and business analysis and consulting. My mathematical background is pretty low, so I know I won't get into anything that's too heavy on numbers and statistics. I don't mind working long hours the first 2-3 years if necessary, but I'd like to avoid traveling a lot in order to be with my family. I like to do research, learn and apply new things and compile information. Maybe some of you know someone who's made it into the industry with a similar background. If that's the case, I'd be thrilled to hear more about how it went and what kind of job opportunities are out there.
