S&T vs. IB vs. PE
Hi my name is Connor Hudson, I'm currently a sophomore in high school and have been reading a lot into wall street in the areas of sales and trading, investment banking, and private equity. I've read a lot about the early positions in these areas and I had some more questions about these areas of finance, here are some of them:
1) At what point do the hours in IB start to level off? Or is it 70+ hours even when one becomes and MD?
2) What is the normal road into large mainstream PE firms? Is it a transfer from IB? IB to MBA to PE? And what are the hours like at these firms? And which would you say are the best? How hard is it to move up in theser firms and how does the pay increase between positions?
3) In S&T what is the money like for salesman as the move up and gain a client list? What does it take to get these jobs? How hard is it to become successful in this area?
Thanks a lot for your input guys it's greatly appreciated
Welcome.
First and foremost, never use your real name here. The really safe thing is to delete this post. Then delete the account. Create a new account, and ask again. The less safe, but probably ok thing (given that you're in HS and nobody cares thattt much) is to edit your name out of your post.
Anonymity is not something to give up on this website, or any anonymous forum. Might seem trivial now, but if you keep the account for years and end up on Wall St. or serious trying to break in, you'll regret having posted your name.
Also, I recommend the search bar. Most of what you are looking for is already readily available on WSO.
