Super Super Super New To The Most Basic Level

Hello everyone,

I am interested in learning more about finance. I went to school for business and took a few courses in finance but nothing serious - mostly stuck to marketing. Now, I have developed such a fascination with watching the stock market and would love to somehow get into this field. Except I have no idea where to start or anything related to the industry. Where would be the first place you would recommend a super n00b to go? I've read that Turney Duff book and that is pretty much my only source of knowledge on this topic.

I do gamble quite a bit so the stock market has always interested me from that perspective. But to all finance guys, the stock market isn't gambling. It's a way to make money. That is what I would love to learn.

I am looking at going back to school for an MBA next year, my original intention was consulting but if I can read more on this and it seems exciting - I'd love to get involved.

Hopefully someone is able to share a good place to start for me and if anyone has any other recommendations to learn more, would love to hear!

Thanks

1) WSO, this place is a unreal resource.
2) Mergers & Inquisitions.
3) Khan Academy
4) Watch the movie, Margin Call, wall street 1 & 2, boiler room etc.
5) Watch financial news, Bloomberg has a pretty non-political based financial/business news cycle.
6) Read WSJ, Dealbook, financial times, zerohedge, seekingalpha etc.

zerohedge summarized: The end is nigh, gold, etc
