Tech guy looking to transition into IB/HF/PE on the West Coast
Hey guys...I'm am an engineer currently working in the tech industry on the west coast. I am getting my MBA from the top ranked part-time MBA program in the US (school is also on the west coast). I am a numbers guy (being an engineer helps) and love working with Excel. After 8 years as an engineer I am hoping to take my skills to an iBank, hedge fund or a PE firm in the SF Bay area that focusses on investing in the semiconductor space/hi-tech. Seeing as how I just started my MBA, I'm still a novice when it comes to finance, but I am picking new things up at school every day. Hopefully I can leverage my tech industry background with the finance skills I am learning at school to make a career transition into finance. If anybody is/was in the same boat as me and have been successful in making such a transition, I am looking for any tips/advice that you can share. It will be mighty helpful.
