Tom, Career/education changer.

Good day my fellow Bananas. I am new to this forum, and would like to say hello to you all.
I am a Disabled Veteran with a background in telecommunications with a focus on satellite communications. I have been long planning an education and career change as I realized a few months ago that I was 32 years old, with 72 SH of college, no degree, and I hated being an engineer.

I have always been an avid investor and have always been more interested in the business/finance side of the companies I worked for more so than the work I was performing.

I am considering attending college at University of Maryland and going to their Robert H. School of Business to study undergraduate finance, and eventually pursue an MBA at an institution worth its salt.

My overall GPA is crap, as 15 years ago when I decided to Fail out of college 3 separate times in 3 separate semesters by achieving a wonderful 0.0 GPA to spite my parents. Most recently I have an institutional GPA of 3.65 from Thomas Edison State College, NJ. I know its an online program, but hey, that is what was available to me while being in the army/deploying/working shift work.

I am not sure of my chances of even getting accepted, but I am a Maryland Resident, and I highly doubt Johns Hopkins would ever admit me, let alone of their Carey Business school is even worth the effort/cost to attend.

I would love to move into IB/PE/HF/ or Sales withing said IB/PE/HF and am trying to plan the most pain free way of doing so, while still being able to work and make an income to support myself and possible future family.

I was accepted into Morgan State University as a transfer applicant, but am not sure if I should skip that and try to get into UMD instead. I am always worried that my grades/past will always ruin my potential future. I screwed up between the ages of 18-22, but the last 10 years have proven to be much better and more successful with military service, and working as an engineer in the private sector without ever obtaining a degree to be one.

I do not really know how to end this introduction, but will say that I am glad to join and hope to hear some sagely advice from those around my age/older who may have been midlife career changers such as myself?

Tom
