Undergrad Transfer - Opinions Please

Hey Guys,

I've been lurking here for a while and finally posting.

Anyways, I am finishing up my first semester of Freshman year. I am at a decent midwest university, but there Finance program in the BS is not that high ranking. I really want to go into Finance (Wall Street, etc...) and have always heard that school ranking/name is key.

I feel I could get into to some good New England area schools and others across the country. I feel like the school I am at also doesn't fit me too well, so a transfer would be a win-win.

Is "name" as big as I hear it is? Aside from the obvious ones, what are some of the top tier schools for finance in the US? Should I transfer after my freshman year/sophomore year...?

Anything else like tips, advice, etc... Please feel free, I am looking for anything and everything!

Thanks!

Even if you get into a brand name university that still doesn't stop you from having to network and brandishing your excel skills. Target schools just give you access to a better alumni and recruiting and i'm mostly sure better education. What i'm trying to say if you're going to transfer, transfer to the best school you think you can get in.

Good luck!

I just transferred to a top public school, and I was in the same situation as you. Here's a list of schools to look into: Vandy Umich(very difficult to transfer to Ross, but you can get a minor in business and get all the recruiting benefits of being in Ross) Northwestern USC Emory UNC(you have to transfer into Kenan Flager after doing a full year majoring in Econ or whatever you want)

Here is a thread on transfer friendly schools: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/blog/the-comprehensive-list-of-transfer-…

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Also, should I transfer after my freshman or sophomore year?

My high school GPA was ok, downed by incidents freshman and sophomore year, but my extra circulars are very strong. Decent SAT score. Main reason I was wondering was if I should build my college GPA through sophomore year or go off what I have now?

Thanks
