I had a similar issue. Went to a large SEC school and majored in accounting. I didn't know anything about IB until my junior year, but at that point I had already destroyed my GPA. I graduated with a 3.3, and I didn't get any Big 4 offers. My accounting internship was at a Fortune 100 company that wasn't hiring at the time due to the recession, so I had to figure out what to do. I ended up applying to be an officer in the Navy. If your ultimate goal is business school it isn't the worst idea, if you think that you have what it takes to be a military officer (physical fitness, discipline, leadership). It is certainly a lot more fun than accounting (my wife is an auditor) and the pay is about the same (total comp for a military officer who has been in 4 years is roughly $90K).

b-schools love military officers. I scored a 730 on the GMAT and now i'm going to start applying for schools in two years- I have one more 1-year deployment to complete. Looking at the Duke/UNC/Emory range of b-schools.

Like I said, being a military officer is not for everyone. It's hard, but it is very rewarding. If I could go back I would not change a thing.

Just though I'd chime in, as I was in this exact same situation in 2010.
