100 Things worth every penny
A bit of a slow day in the office: was reading through the Luxxotica acquisition article in WSJ and somehow managed to come across the article above.
Mind you, the Forbes article is from 1999.
It's amazing how many things have stood the test of time. Sure, some of the tech-y things have evolved (here's looking at you, Palm Pilot V...now your smartphone of choice) and some have been updated (Mac Powerbook), but in general this list is as relevant today as it was in 1999.
Food for thought. I've been re-reading the Intelligent Investor and this article makes a lot of those points come to life.
Those were the good ole days.
I'm referencing the fact that you don't have to click through everything on the list one at a time. Forbes is basically click bait now.
cottonelle TP, heated seats, levis that fit, a good pillow. this list spoke to me.
Good beer. I'll pay $10-$12 for a good 6 pack vs $7 for Bud Light every time.
But bud Light is America's Beer!!
Ironically, not pennies. http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2016/12/27/the-penny-cost-more-to-make-t…
Quality toilet paper is a must. One ply is obscene.
Great list, SB. I would replace the yellow lab with a German shepherd, but no list is perfect.
Definitely agree with several, particularly (4) Stihl anything, (20) any pre-1989 Porsche 911, (29) Bose anything, (65) Krispy Kremes and (93) Hermes anything.
It is true that an American Standard strat is worth every penny. However, a Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty will reign supreme.
