A directional pivot towards meritocracy -- recent history of the salvos and what is yet to come

DEI's heydeys are over, and they aren't coming back for a couple decades as populism / de-globazation firmly take hold (just as globalization / progressivism did for the past 50yrs, or at least until 2010 or so). We're probably in the 2nd to 4th inning of the narrative shift in the other direction. The list of L's DEI has taken in the past few years is pretty big:

1. Rate-hike driven economic contractions: Led to larger companies laying off low-performers (disproportionately low-skilled DEI hires)

2. Elon showing what could be done with X: He laid off 85% of the staff and while not 'thriving' as a standalone entity, the fact that it's operating functionally gave ammo to investors in Meta / Google / etc to demand they trim the fat. He finally quantified what investors always suspected and allowed for way more pressure, which magnified the DEI layoffs

3. SCOTUS banning AA -- one of the biggest catalysts and speaks for itself. Already has had a material impact in college admissions with impact now reverberating across the private sector

4. Hamas-Israel -- The Jewish community now saw that they were only once group under DEI for convenience's sake, and how quickly the movement / proponents would turn on them. Very critical to see influential and powerful people like Bill Ackman and Steve Schwarzman come out for Trump. The DEI movement just lost one of their most powerful supporting groups

5. Robby Starbuck -- guy is insanely productive, almost single-handedly got dozens of large caps to roll back on DEI policies through his activism

6. Trump's election -- got an entire wave of new companies to roll back on DEI incl Meta and Amazon

7. Trump's executive orders banning DEI federally (both in govt and for federal contractors) -- federal govt and contractors are now going to hire color-blind

What's coming next? A case is going up before SCOTUS (Ames v. Ohio Department of Youth Services) that would make it easier for whites / Asians in the workplace to prove workplace discrimination from DEI hiring. This is the next big catalyst where the ruling is coming out in June which will force even woke companies like JPM / RBC to roll back on DEI. We are not a perfect meritocracy, but any way to directionally move towards it is better than the alternative. It's morning in America
