Arguably this is the most blatant, government-sanctioned racial discrimination policy that's been implemented in the US in the last fifty years. There's no "holistic" incorporation of race as one of multiple factors- this is straight-up Jim Crow tier stuff.

Not saying that it's morally equivalent to the whole Jim Crow system. It isn't. My point is that this is something we haven't really seen since then: a straight-up government-sanctioned racial test. And for a life-saving medical treatment, not a minor thing. "BIPOC" given access to vaccine, white people go to waiting list. There's no nuance, no analysis of individual characteristics, etc. In that respect it's different than things like preferences in government contracting and state school admissions.
