trazer985Weight or size? I can understand size, if you take up 2 seats, you pay for 2 seats. But weight? The passenger mass compared to total payload of an aircraft is negligible.

Weight, they all ready charge for size. Airline executives are debating charging for mass if oil tops 200. And the weight is not negligible. You know nothing about aviation. I can tell you for a fact that weight is a huge factor. My planes have a maximum payload, this includes passengers, luggage, fuel payload. So yes the weight of the passengers affects how much for profit payload they can carry as well as determines how fuel efficient the aircraft is.

Call a brother out, you'd best KYS. 500 passengers tops on a 747, averaging out at 90kgs each, that's 45 tonnes of human. A large amount, yes, but a deviation caused by even 100 superfatties that are 180kgs each (just picture the likelihood of that)? An additional 9 tonnes. On a plane that is carrying 100 tonnes of fuel (of which 10 tonnes it doesnt ever use) and a max takeoff weight of over 400 tonnes, it's a drop in the ocean. Do i get charged less if i'm underweight, yea, sure.... Will they consider the mass of the plane as a total in their calculations? This isn't about paying your way, it's about finding a defendable excuse to charge people. However, i'm very interested in its effect on people's size. It could be a great incentive, and ultimately as a nonfatass, if this keeps my ticket price lower then all the better.

P.S. Fuel efficiency is determined by fuel/air ratios, of which they need materials to raise melting points by about 200 degrees to obtain. One passenger weighing 40kgs more on a machine totalling 400 tonnes is negligible difference.

America, please, take care of your health, we're losing BILLIONS on unecessary 'diseases' like * diabetes * heart disease * obesity * lots of others, this is not a medical journal

These aren't typically diseases, they are degenerative conditions caused by abusing health.

We have that measuring device to determine if you can bring a carry on, we should have print out guides to determine if you need another seat.

Some people are big boned or husky by nature, but outside of a rare medical condition, being "fat" is personal choice. If I locked a mother fucker in a cage and feed them vitamins, protein and whole wheat the would slim down quick fast and in a hurry. If you CHOOSE to be a land Orca then pay up for it.

Food is as addicting as cigarettes and we have jack shit sympathy for smokers. Same for tubby.

if you start to roll over into the seat next to you, you should pay 1.5 times for making the person next to you lose half a seat

If oil climbs to ever higher rates, I can definitely see (in 10 - 15 years) a system where you get all your bags, stand on a scale and they charge you for the total weight you add to the payload.

As far as the whole 'negligible weight' argument, sure, one fat ass on one flight is negligible but when you run thousands and thousands of flights a year that extra weight can start having observable impacts on your bottom line.
