Am I objectifying women?
The other day, I was walking in a downtown area. There's a bunch of shopping areas and food places all around, so of course there's tons of women out there.
I'm walking up the strip and I saw a group of them headed right towards me. My phone was out and I was checking it, but stopped as I had to maneuver through the average obstructing shit (whether it's shit or not is not the point) typical in downtown areas. So, I noticed this group of distant, curvy women, and that they were too far to get a good look. So I finished up on my phone, but as they got closer, I knew I wasn't going to let them slip by without my eyes resting on their goods for a few seconds.
So I didn't miss the opportunity. They happened to be watching me, but I didn't care. As I got my look at the lot, they started laughing and I could overhear them laughing and whining that it's so annoying and they knew I would look.
You damn right I looked! You're showing it, and I want to see what you got. Joe Rogan talked about this on his podcast. "You should posture up to get a look when out and public and they're showing it."
What do you guys think? Do you normally get a good glimpse, or is that disrespectful to women?
It bugs me if I don't. I have to or else I feel like I missed out on something.
Well yeah. But I'm also curious on where the line is drawn on what's right and wrong between the sexes. There's all this shit out here now about genders existing or not existing, and masculinity being horrible. Like wtf. I'm a man, and I want to see it.
looking and smiling is fine, drooling and staring probably a bit much.
it's like the Seinfeld episode with denise richards, you don't stare for long, cause it's like looking at the sun, bad things happen the longer you look. glance, get a sense, and then look away.
Yeah, but of course I'm going to look. I felt like it would've been disrespectful to not look. That ain't happening with the sun.
Why is it always men asking if they objectify women? Do women worry about this with men? Lord knows they objectify men as wallets
ayyy mammmiiii you look like you got good leeeadershiip skiiiiils
I might be so bold as to say the Golden Rule is a: "One glance and done policy" ?
I had this same conversation with a couple girls in college. They agreed that glancing wasn't a huge issue. Even they admitted to glancing and smiling at attractive guys.
The issue is with guys who took it a step further by either, repeatedly glancing... staring, verbally engaging, or (for obvious reasons) physically engaging.
a good pair of sunglasses will stop triggering, objectifying, or appropriating
