Any Tips for Allergy Sufferers?

I'm a rising senior doing the whole internship thing this summer. My whole life, I've had a horrible case of spring and summer allergies. Since my worst days have usually coincided with summer vacation, it has never been a huge problem for me.

I can generally cope with the sneezing, congestion, post-nasal drip, and inability to breathe. I've done it my whole life so I'm used to it. But this internship is the first time I've had to be glued to a desk and surrounded by other people for 70+ hours per week during peak allergy season. I'll admit to having a tough time, but I refuse to let it affect the quality of my work.

Nonetheless, I can tell that it bothers people -- the uncontrollable sniffling, sneezing, and coughing -- and I've already received subtle comments about my leaving the desk to blow my nose or get water as well as my general fatigued appearance.

If anyone has any professional tips, please pass them along. I already do allergy shots, Claritin-D, saline rinse, HEPA filter in my pad, and a few other things to stay as healthy as possible. The only thing I haven't tried yet is full-blown surgery, which wasn't really an option until recently, and I've been told by specialists that it may not even help.

I'm starting to seriously wonder if this will affect my ability to work in any competitive industry.
