Anyone want to build their own house?
I don’t have any materialistic goals other than owning a nice house. My goal is to build my own house with a budget of £2 million (inflation adjusted) by 40 (the age my hopefully kids will start entering their teens). I plan to do this by renting / investing a lot early, and ‘inshallah’ with salary/job satisfaction.
I feel like being able to customise it to your own specifications is amazing. Can include lots of new technology too to make it super efficient (e.g. solar panels 10-20 years ago, or TSLA generators now). I plan to live to at least 80, why not build a home that can last you for 40 years?
It is kind of a dumb idea, as £2 million is probably enough to live ‘passive’ netting around £40,000 a year at 2%, hence making retirement a possibility, but that is a problem for 20 years down the line lol.
Anyone else wish to build their own home? I’ve already got mine planned out more or less, interested to hear what others have.
Yes, my wife and I add to the ideas sheet on a regular basis just for fun.
Although we still don't really know where we want to live long term, at least this way we have characteristics locked in.
