Are America's Taxes Not High Enough?
Monkeys, I was reading an article on Bloomberg which said that America has the 3rd lowest tax rates among all the OECD countries.
In every other scenario analyzed by the OECD in its 584-page “Taxing Wages” report, the U.S. tax burden was also below average, from 3 points to almost 6 points depending on the taxpayers’ wages, marital status, and number of children.
Was curious to know what the community thinks about tax rates in the US.
Hmm this article is slightly misleading for Canada. They seem to be quoting the federal tax rate as a "overall tax rate". But the provincial tax (state tax in US) is significantly higher in Canada than in most other countries due to health care being paid for out of the provincial budget, not the federal budget.
I was just reading about some index concerning total tax burden (income, consumption, etc) and the US ranks in the bottom third overall, and near the bottom for 1st world countries.
take the inverse of that - spending is too high
