Are any of you Freemasons?

I’ve been intrigued by Freemasonry but I keep wondering what kind of people are actually involved in that community. Are any of you or people you know Freemasons? And if you are do you think the kind of culture and community it breeds is beneficial for someone trying to follow the IB/PE lifestyle?

"Mastodon" trying to follow the IB/PE lifestyle?

I swear to God, whenever I read sentences like this I cringe so hard it almost makes me gag.

What was you question again?

I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.

when I say follow the lifestyle, I mean surrounding myself with people in my field and at the level I aspire to be. You tend to be the average of the people you associate with most, so I’d like to be around people I want to become. I’m wondering if I can find Freemasons like that and if it’s worth pursuing.

You don't understand the Free Masons at a baseline level then. Anyone can be a Free Mason, so long as you believe in a higher being and aspire to a high moral character. It's not some prestigious secret society that will further your career ambitions. Go read their website before posting something like this.

"community it breeds is beneficial for someone trying to follow the IB/PE lifestyle?"

You are joining for the wrong reasons.

it's explicitly not religious (though you have to believe in some kind of higher being). It's worth checking out some lodges in your area and seeing if you like the people there.

Of course a lot of people on WSO are freemasons. How do you think we get these extremely ultra-coveted internship and FT offers in the first place?

Your gnostic drinking buddies ain´t gonna help you shit, and they are very explicit in their dislike for guys like you. Anyway, I can really recommend the series "Lodge 49", pretty good watch.

I've been thinking about it recently as well. I went to a couple open meetings 2 years ago and it looked like it was an interesting group of people that were really diverse, the only issue is that this particular lodge would take too long to get to with traffic. I feel like being a part of that, especially now when we're otherwise isolated with social distancing, would be really beneficial.

I was trying to remember your user name and you just popped up. Did you ever end up writing that article on commercial banking you posted about a few months ago?
