Been in a bad mentor relationship?

I'm looking for someone in the NYC area who is willing to talk with me (on or off the record) about a mentorship that has gone bad. I'm writing a article for a large newspaper.

imo the best mentorships are informal exchanged of value. Nobody worth a shit is going to babysit your ass if you don't contribute. And why pick one person? I'm pretty new at my career and never really had a "mentor", but I do work with a lot of guys twice my age who teach me shit sort of indirectly. One hand washes the other and shit. Old dudes love young dudes who are on top of shit and hungry and all that. You do good work for them. They'll invite you over and show you their wine celler, give you some Bulls tickets, introduce you to their connections, those people like you and become your clients, etc. Podcasts too, Like dude I've listened to thousands and thousands of hours of podcasts. Aggregate all that shit in your mind. Put a cartoon face on it. Call it your mentor.

Dude you're allowed to hear people out and learn from them even without them being your "mentor." It's just people moving through life talking and shit...
