Best Credit Cards

Hey guys, I'm currently a university student but I'll be starting FT in IB soon. I realized that I'm probably missing out on cash back/rewards stuff that you'd get with a credit card because I just use my debit card for everything, so I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for a good first credit card. Additionally, I'd love to learn more about some of the credit cards you all have been using and the kinds of benefits you get with them. Maybe even a cheeky credit card ranking. Thanks!!

Check out Credit Karma for recommendations. Always try to get the max limit and try to keep your monthly spend under 10%.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Start building a rep with Amex - they have some of the best rewards and customer service. What card you get will be determined by credit score / willingness to pay. Would recommend a charge card from Amex as the balance has to be paid in full each month. Helps with not over-spending during the newfound freedom of available credit.

If you can’t do Amex, then take a look at Chase Freedom and Sapphire. Discover is also great to begin with.

I swear by Amex plat myself given I fly a lot and booking thru amex gets be 5x points on all travel + centurion lounge access + priority pass. However, I got this card when I graduated from being an analyst. For analysts who don't want to pay the fee and can't travel much, the Chase Freedom is amazing for cashback on most purchases / the chase sapphire preferred is great in terms of value given price and rewards as alluded to above / amex gold is great for dining which may be a good choice given a lot of your free time outside of work as an analyst is spent getting drinks/food with friends when possible.

Amazon Prime

Amex Platinum if you can get it - you can't put a price on how good it feels to pull it out on a date. I'd pay the fee even if it had 0 rewards.

I concur best credit card that I have used so far. Fees go up next year though.

SafariJoe, wins again!
