You have to keep in mind there will probably be some restrictions based on whether this is banking or trading, the company, group, clients. So some single name stocks may be out, and your time horizon may be effected.

EDIT: To actually help. What does your student debt situation look like, in more detail. Depending on the rates, it might make sense to blow a hole in that. If they're not too bad, just go with a few different Index Funds.
If your student loans are above 5% id try and put most of the money towards that because its not guaranteed you will make returns that outpace the interest collecting on your debt.
