Black Cars

I am curious about black cars. These are supposedly a well known perk of being a banker. With all of the cost cutting in the recent year or two, are you guys still getting black cars?

If so, what are the restrictions on them? Are they only for rides home?

Do only bulge brackets offer this perk, or do lowlier banks offer it as well? How about in regional offices like San Francisco, LA, or Chicago? Is it offered there?

they aren't so much a perk as a legal issue (from what I"ve heard in the past. This may have changed). Law firms also have this black car policy. It's apparently to keep you from getting jumped and getting sensitive documents stolen from you (or whatever). I think the standard is you get a car home after 9pm. PatrickBateman apparently has a pretty sweet firm. =)

Black cars or cabs are standard at most banks. They prefer blackcars for a number of reasons, including: -Negotiated rates for large contracts can beat cab fare and be paid in bulk -Easier to make sure people are using it at the right times -Easier to make sure you take them to/from work -Better security as HS said

At the places I have worked the time has been 8pm free for cab/black car. If you live really close to work you can really game the system and take cabs to/from "work" and by "work" I mean restaurants, bars, etc and not have to find a cab.
