Honestly not sure if they really make a difference. I find it much more helpful to use the warm colors/night shift display setting.

Based on previous WSO threads, blue light exposure from screens can indeed be a concern, especially for those in industries where screen time is extensive. Here are some insights:

  1. Blue Light Filtering Tools:

    • f.lux: This is a tool that filters out blue light from your screens. It's highly recommended for anyone who spends a lot of time in front of a computer. It adjusts your screen's color temperature according to the time of day, reducing blue light exposure in the evening, which can help improve sleep quality.
  2. Listening to Audio Books:

    • Instead of staring at screens before bed, listening to audiobooks can be a good alternative. It helps in reducing stress and can improve sleep quality. However, the downside is that you might lose track of where you left off when you wake up.
  3. General Awareness:

    • While blue light glasses are beneficial, they might not be widely adopted yet due to a lack of awareness or the perception that they are unnecessary. However, as more people become aware of the potential benefits, their usage might increase.

In summary, tools like f.lux and habits like listening to audiobooks can help mitigate the effects of blue light. Blue light glasses might not be widely used yet, but they can be a valuable addition to your routine if you spend a lot of time in front of screens.

Such a common misconception around blue light glasses.

1. They do not reduce eye strain.
2. Blue light is good (during the day). It’s what signals your brain that its day time.
3. Wearing them at night (before bed) is good as it reduces the blue light you see and shifts your brain into night mode.
