Business Development Companies

Every now and then the thought of being both a financier and a business consultant simultaneously has danced around in my mind. I learned about BDCs very recently. I've heard of similar (the same, am I stupid?) roles at PE firms but never the straight up business development companies until a few days ago.

Would working at a business development company scratch the itch?

Probably not what you're thinking of. BDCs are publicly-traded direct lenders simply put.

Sounds like you'd be better off look at fin services consulting or investment banking. Could also look at biz dev roles at LMM / MM pe firms though you'll be more of a connector rather than a "consultant"
