Canada: the world's next superpower?

CNN Since Iceland's financial collapse in 2008, the country has debated whether it should stick with the krona or adopt the currency of another country.

The obvious choice seems to be for Iceland to submit to, say, oil-rich Norway or maybe even join the EU and adopt the euro.

But another currency has entered the debate. And it’s a little "loonie."

That's right: Iceland might adopt the Canadian dollar as its official currency.

Included in the definition of superpower is military power. Canada is too remote and peaceful, and has no interest in foreign affairs beyond simple economic and the occaisonal foray that America talks them into. They also don't have the population necessary for viable global force projection.

Interesting, but far fetched. Despite the numbers we're still talking about Canada, who relies heavily on American Industry and has a soft military.

I had heard that Iceland was aiming to get in the Eurozone, assuming they are able to meet the convergence criteria, which I don't know if I see happening.

PS ... Erin Burnett is hot.
