Career suicide?
About a two years ago I left a top group at a BB (GS/JPM/MS) to join an upstart venture firm after less than a year on the job. I enjoy my current role, but now feel that I have limited myself in my career. Former colleagues are now in PE / Corp Dev with considerable opportunities, while I feel fairly stuck in a lower paying seat at a growing, yet still small VC shop.
For a while, I have wanted to take the more entrepreneurial path and start a business, and figured that VC was a good way to get exposure to a lot of talented founders. But now, I feel that I do not have tangible engineering skills to actually do that, nor strong financial skills to move back into traditional finance.
Any advice for an early career monkey thinking about next steps / falling victim to the comparison game?
