unnecessary if you live in manhattan. period. an uberluxury if you have one and only worthwhile if you make over like 750+ because then at least you can drive a lamborghini.
Really inconvenient to have a car but if I did I would get a Land Rover for around $70k...
i'd say about 10-20% of my friends have cars in the city.
Buying a parking space can cost more than an apartment/coop/condo. why bother.
Municipal parking is fairly cheap. I know a few NYers who have cars.
