Chick-fil-a sues t-shirt maker over kale

Okay, I apologize in advance for constantly posting articles about the fast food industry (maybe I just really love food), but this is pretty hilarious.

But Mr Muller-Moore is not the only small entrepreneur to have caught the attention of a big firm’s trademark hawks. In 2009 the company that makes Monster energy drinks demanded that Vermont’s Rock Art Brewery stop calling its barley wine “Vermonster”. Last year Tootsie Roll Industries, which makes chewy sweets, filed suit against the maker of a roll-up shoe called Footzyrolls. And in 2009 The North Face, an outdoor-clothing company, sued a much smaller clothing company that had decided to call itself The South Butt.

The South Butt? That's pure gold! I once read that Sak's Fifth Avenue sued a store in San Diego (where Sak's has 0 stores) that called itself Sachs Thrift Avenue over intellectual property rights.

I guess this isn't jdOasis, but this article brings up a pretty good questions: namely, that there's a lot of grey in terms of making money off of random stuff, even if there is no direct link between the subjects (as is the case here).

Does Chick-fil-a have a legitimate claim here? If WSO packaged a bunch of breaking into finance materials under the slogan "this just works", would we get sued by Apple? Sounds cool.

My $0.02: Chick-fil-a is so delicious they can do whatever they please.

chick-fil-a

Lulz.

Now that I think about it, this reminds me of the LA Clippers guy...their only dedicated fan before CP3 got traded there. When they sucked, LAC loved having him come to all the games in his Clippers gear and Clippers-themed Mercedes, but as soon as they get popular and realized Clippers guy could make money off of them, he got the axe. Owned.

There's no Chick Fil A in the Northeast...I knew "Eat More Kale" before I knew the Chick Fil A relation...

My buddy went to HS with the kid who started South Butt. When the North Face sent him a cease and desist letter, he offered to sell them the company for $1 mil. Then, when they sued, it made him so popular he couldn't keep things in stock. Haha!
