This is just idiotic- it is undoubtedly illogical to make a vast over generalization of a nation solely on basis one event that is relatively insignificant in contrast to the magnitude of your claim. Of course I found that video to be quite horrific and was infuriated at the apathetic state of the by passers, however it is certainly inaccurate to use this as an opportunity to make generalist claims about China. Shit like this happens quite often worldwide, particularly in developing nations, but you'd probably never hear about it as it's quite rare to capture such events on camera.
And no, I'm not Chinese. I'm not even Asian.
OP, there are good and bad folks everywhere. though i notice that people from communist societies tend to me a lot more guarded, dishonest and cynical*. friend's dad was a refined CS prof from eastern european country, but was also a total klepto for cheap candy and shit like that at the store. weird. communism makes you pretty beastly.

Dishonest and cynical? As opposed to...Americans? I find this idea hilariously wrong. No offense meant, but really...an American (I am assuming, here), generalizing another population and calling them "dishonest" is just hilarious.

I grew up in Eastern Europe, so this hit a little bit close. I actually don't remember the pre-Berlin wall fall days, but I've been pestering my parents/grandparents with stories about them ever since.
And I find it really disheartening when I hear people generalizing about communists, but also when people assume that everyone in those countries was a communist. Dude, it was a regime. And while every regime has members of the ruling party, and other "helpers", not everyone living there belongs to its ideology. But they couldn't exactly go out and protest it, right? Tanks would roll over pretty quickly.
For most of my adult life, I've been finding it hilarious when people in western countries accuse the "left" in their countries of being communists. You have no idea what real communism is.

my grandfather actually did do business in some communist countries before trade really opened up with them. the non-existence of an american-style court system and mega-cronyism enables people to completely fuck others over on deals, yes (e.g., you capitalize a construction project, and the local govt nationalizes it when it is 90% done -- goodbye money, it was nice knowing you). exempli gratia. if that isn't dishonest and cynical, i don't know what is.
