Citigroup to allow junior bankers a year off for charity work
All while earning 60% of pay. I think it's complete b.s., much like the vacation allowances that are often laughed at here on WSO. Thoughts/opinions?

Career Resources
Could be cheaper than firing them outright.
They can allow whatever the fuck they want that does not benefit one's career progression. In reality, no one in their right mind will do it.
For those interested in business school, this sounds like a great plan. Work two years at Citi IB, work a year in the Peace Corps or some other charity for 60% of your pay, and then apply to a top MBA program.
This actually sounds very thoughtful and good. I have had friends and professors who were in Peace Corps. It gave them more meaning to what they were doing after their time there. However, 60% of pay compensation should not be overlooked though, especially if you are impacting society as a whole.

Yup. Assuming you get paid 60% of a second-year analyst's salary, you would be making $54,000 in the Peace Corps. Great deal if you ask me.
It is a great deal. I believe from discussions most of the money these P.C. earns they actually re-invest to their mission they are working on. I am glad that society does have groups and people who volunteer their time to do this.

I think after 2 years of being in a cube, this could be a welcome change of pace for many analysts out there. Interesting move.
If this had been included in my investment banking offer, I would have accepted.
You could also work full time and spend 40% of your salary on funding somebody else to go in your place...
