Colleges and Career (Advice needed)

Hey Guys and Gals,
I'm 18 years old, I live in California, and I want to work in high finance.
I really like trading with my own portfolio so I hope to do S&T at a BB derivatives desk and/or Venture Capital. Hopefully I get a chance to do both.

At this point in my life I have some very big decisions to make about where I should go to college.

Basically my two options are:
University of Denver (Daniels school of business)
Cal Poly SLO (Architecture)

If end up going to Cal Poly I will immediately switch my major to either industrial engineering or business. Cal Poly is much more selective than DU (31%). From my past blogs one can note that I'm not a doofus and I'm already off to a promising start in banking. Eh. That sounded conceited. Anyway, I have a few questions that I hope to get answered and help me reach my goal of working on the Street!

1. DU or Cal Poly?
1. If I go to Cal Poly I will switch majors to either Business or Ind. Engineering. Which will look better for banking?
2. I have a pretty large and ever growing knowledge of IB/investing by reading books, investing on my own time and learning from my mentor. Will this compensate of my lack of an actual Business degree when it comes down to a FO BB interview?
3. How hard is it to network with high finance contacts considering I may be going to school in a small California surf town?
4. After a couple years at either school should I consider transferring to a more targetish school such as UC Berkeley to raise my chances of netting a BB job right out of Undergrad?

You may answer as many questions as you would like. Just put the question number before your answer.

Best Regards,
Chaffey
