I'm not afraid of heights... but thats just re-god-damn-diculous... Scary-high.
My question is, how do you get that job, and what's the interview like?
The funny thing is, these guys climb that high so often, that they probably don't even think about it anymore, it's just "another day at the office."
My palms started sweating just watching this.
Seems like a pretty tough job, but I don't think they have it any harder than commercial construction where guys will typically eat sandwiches just sitting on steel girders.
Most outdoor jobs are pretty tough. Heck, I had it pretty easy working at a summer camp and I thought that was tough.
Bottom line is that hustle-per-dollar, most of us have it pretty easy.
Completely fucking insane.
holy shit this video is fucking insane... im scared just watching it
i had to pause mid-way just to work up the gonads to continue watching
Felt like pissing myself every time he'd look down
It's weird, but I could probably climb up some of that (the ladder parts, maybe). However, I'd be paralyzed where I had stopped, because nothing freaks me out more than climbing down from high places. A helicopter would have to come get me.
This really is insane.
What amazes me too is that they don't even use safety harnesses unless they're resting, even on those skimpy-looking ladders at the top
This was posted on another forum I frequent. Apparently the shit in the video is now highly illegal, the death rate in the industry was 17% making it the most dangerous job in america, now they have to tie off when theyre at any height above 6' off the ground.
For those who are curious they make about $100 / hour
I'd rather be poor. $100/hr isn't going to get me up that thing.
It would take a lot more than $100/hr for me to make that climb.
