Confused with the whole location thing

I understand 'wall street' has been figuratively moved because most of the big players have left lower manhattan. I'm not from the area. Just how far apart are midtown, lower manhattan and other heavy financial districts? Also, where nightlife is concerned do bankers in general go to the same places or do bankers from the same banks go to the same places?

Midtown and downtown wall street area are pretty close depending on which line you take (the 123), it should only be about 5-10 minutes

i feel like after work, people spend more time in midtown, but that's just my observation

Thanks. Is it normal for people that work in lower manhattan to go chill in midtown after work?
