Considering joining the TA
edit: TA = territorial army.
One of my main regrets in life is not doing this when I was younger (soon 27). The UK has a part time version, for lack of a better word. It's an identical job to the regular army but time commitments enable many to run a full time job around it.
I've always had an urge to do it, but I'm not getting any younger, and you don't get many opportunities in life to do this. Not entirely sure I "get" what's involved, but I don't think anyone does until they've done it.
Any military guys out there who can share their experiences? Regrets? Perks?
I spend about a week every year with the naval reserves after I got out of active duty. You're told a long time in advance, so there shouldn't be any problems with getting a week off for defending your country. No manager want the bad press if it gets leaked ie: 'GS is against the troops.' or 'JPM thinks money is more important than protecting our country.'

Only thing I know so far about military is there are no perks.
This must be the Brit version of Reserves/National Guard.
@BlackHat: Imagine being the guys who shot Bin-Laden. If I am ever jealous of someone, it is those two guys.
