covid-19 and moving to new york this summer

Hi all - i am an incoming ft ib analyst at an eb in NYC, supposed to start the second week of july. i know the covid-19 pandemic is throwing a lot of uncertainty into employment/moving plans etc, but i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to find an apartment in nyc for a july 1 move-in with all the social distancing/stay at home orders in place and overall state of emergency that nyc is facing. (obviously assuming i still have my job, start date isnt pushed back, things start to look better in a couple months, etc). thanks for any input and stay safe everyone

I know that, at least before COVID-19, looking for apartments more than a month in advance is/was not always the most fruitful endeavor when it comes to NYC. Typically the leases start on the first day of the very next month, although of course there are always exceptions. I would wait until late-May to begin going on apartments.com, Leasebreak, StreetEasy and the like to start looking. For the moment, maybe start thinking about who you would like to live with (assuming you are not getting your own place)?
