Dinner with former MD?

Long story short,

He interviewed me, I interned in his team, he guided me through the whole process. Being the only girl in my team, I had hard time connecting to some of my colleagues and it was nice knowing that there's someone who believes me. But recently he left for another position and asked whether I want to have lunch sometime which of course I thought was a great idea. But now, he's suggesting dinner instead and I just want to make sure it doesn't look inappropriate. During my internship I have already misinterpreted one of my colleagues attempt to be "friendly" and "welcoming" and went on what turned out to be a date. I would like to avoid any possible misunderstandings. So what are your thoughts on this? Are dinners acceptable? Is it usual practice?

Are you hot? If yes, then it isn't a "business" dinner. Let's be real here. If you're average to below average then he may just think you're a good worker and wants to continue mentoring you despite the fact he's left your current firm... or he may just wanna bone you anyway.
