Do you like 30 Seconds to Mars?

Do you like 30 Seconds to Mars?* From the second I first heard their song, “The Kill” I thought, “WTF, this is the most epic workout song ever!” With their post grudge/ Screamo style they electrified the rock charts and MTV shortly after the release of “A Beautiful Lie.”

However, it wasn’t long before the band ran into trouble. Their label EMI/Virgin Records filed a $30 million law suit against them after the band tried to sign with another label. EMI alleged that the band was obligated to produce three more records under the EMI label, a request to which the band ultimately bowed.

Some claim that their lyrics have a philosophical, even spiritual meaning. I for one think that this is only true in the boldest sense of the terms. They are best described as a band that exemplifies L.A./Hollywood commercialism.

That being said, I love their music videos. With their dark humor and edgy themes, they personify everything that Hollywood does best. The thing that struck me most about the band’s music videos was the first rate acting skills of the band members. Then it dawned on me, “Jared Leto is Paul Allen!” No wonder that effeminate person wears mascara in the music videos. I'm so glad I got rid of Paul.

30 seconds to mars is one of those American bands that does alright in the US but absolutely kills on the international scene. I worked in central america for two summers in high school and every kid between 12 and 20 thought they were one of the greatest bands ever... they definitely do pump up the whole "were spiritual and meaningful" thing; kind of a like a Creed/U2 hybrid

@DickFuld?

Is there a question?

I began listening to them in HS, then stopped not long after. You can sense the try-hard in everything they do, and that detracts from their music. They try too hard to conform to the image that they created for themselves, I think.

You think I'm gonna serve a day of those 7 years? You clearly don't know my country's justice system... or my ability to rig it in my favor!

lol 30 seconds to mars just reminds me of my scene phase as a young adolescent, a very dark period of my life where I dyed my hair in public bathrooms and broke glass bottles on the streets and bought shirts on sale from hot topic.

regardless though Jared Leto's voice is still sex. I had a whole photobucket album dedicated to him back in the day when you had to remotely host all your myspace images because who the fuck used facebook
