Yep, pretty much use it solely for close friends. Easiest way to share stuff with them.
do u still rely on air as your primary source of oxygen?
I've tried to slowly cut it out of my life, but it hasn't really helped my migraines.
Yes. My friends are all spread out now so that's the best way to communicate outside of calling them and I use it for marketing purposes for work as well.
Only really use it for the instant messaging, I never bother to update/share stuff.
I treat it like an interactive phone book. Plus, I love all the random/funny pix. People who post innane details of "eating breakfast" or "commuting home" get relentlessly tormented.
Great way to keep in touch - however, the recent increase in self-proclaimed instagram celebrities and the overabundance of mediocre food pictures EVERY SINGLE DAY is getting to me.
not to mention the incessant usage of hashtags
I deactivated my account a few months ago and have seen my productivity increase. Didn't realize how much time I was spending on CNN's page making fun of people.
But on the other hand, I don't wanna miss out on anything because I'm not on FB.
only log in if i need to msg someone / expect a msg from someone, use it for nothing else.
find it kind of useless now, don't really care where random ppl went on holiday/got drunk/had for lunch/their cat's breakfast. plus don't have the downtime to kill anymore.
I know the feeling of missing out from not having FB, however I think that you gain so much more from simply missing those things. It gives you a great sense of who is actually important to you and forces you to deal with facts when you don't want to talk to someone anymore: now people aren't being fooled into thinking you're friends with them, and neither are you.
I deleted my FB last year, along with my Twitter and whatever else I may have had. I can't imagine ever going back to social networking sites.
I mostly use it to wish people a happy birthday and stay in touch with a few people. To all the people struggling from FOMO (fear of missing out), life will not end if you don't see a crappy picture of a Starbucks muffin with the commentary "photography #swag #yolo #NYClife" once a day. If anything, it gets better.
