Does this sound like a bad way to about getting a internship

I'm a first year econ undergraduate. I'm searching for some finance work experience for second year since my university does not help us with it...they only help with editing your resume etc. Anyway, I was thinking that during summer holiday, whilst staying with relatives in London, I should visit many banks and boutiques in London and see what they are offering/if they are offering unpaid internship. I may be able to use that time for networking too.

Thanks Dan

depends, are you looking for that internship to be this summer or fall/spring/next summer? If you want an internship this summer you should've already been working on that.
