If he does, he'll have so much sympathy capital that he would crush Sarkozy.

Maybe some French women wouldn't vote for him, but he'd get the support of the massively macho population.

Agree on the sympathy. The women will likely support him, such is France. I'm not so sure that it's going to change anything - if she's venal enough to wonder if she can get a few bucks out of this, I'm not so sure she's part of an international conspiracy.

Definitely an interesting developement though, and my impression is: If you are running for office, be VERY CAREFUL who you let close to you

Agree that she doesnt appear to be apart of any large conspiracy but it still begs the question - what the motives were? (hard to believe it was just financial gain as such hotels must have all kinds of celebrities staying and opportunities must present themselves all the time & money would have been given to her immediately anyhow)

you're looking at her life through the eyes of logic and reason. She's got her lot in life, maybe she was just pushed to breaking point.

people are not all that rationally, especially cleaning ladies involved with criminals.

Maybe she took out a loan from a loan shark and needed money just in this very moment?

God knows.

I think if DSK runs he still has a good shot since this thing will be a rep booster in france.

He can present himself as the victim of overzealous americans, the french will love that shit.
