Entry-level time piece

I am looking for an entry level time piece in the region of $250-$400 to celebrate receiving a full time offer. I would be grateful for some help and support in identifying a classic time piece and would love to wow the company with an elegant, contemporary design. Please find below my specifications:

I prefer a classic design
I have small wrists and so the face is of particular concern
I like classic names - no abrasive ones such as Seiko and other cheap, 'trailer trash' names.
I have some initials a few inches up on my right wrist, so a right handed time piece would be preferred
I would like the piece to hold value and not depreciate significantly

Any help would be much appreciated - SBs for the best advice.

Seiko's aren't trailer trash, ace. I wear mine everyday and it has been running strong for 3 years after I got it on sale. You're going to have to drop more than $250-$400 for your wish list, although for that price range I'd recommend either a Tissot or a Citizen Eco-drive.
