Euphoria from Adderall

I took Adderall for the first time since high school yesterday (I'm a senior in college). I took 20 mg, and got an amazing euphoria and amazing concentration. I woke up this morning and popped another 20 mg, but it hardly did anything. I took another 20 mg about an hour and a half later, and still only a mild concentration boost followed.

From what I've read around the web, I'm not going to get that euphoria again unless I really up the dosage, but will I ever get that same amount of concentration? I was planning on making one day a week my "Adderall day" so as to avoid building a tolerance, but the rather mild effects (if any) today are rather disappointing. For those of you who take Adderall, do you notice a significant boost to your concentration, or just enough to get you through the day/night? Would sticking to a strictly once-a-week or bi-weekly regimen help me back toward the "first time" effects?

btw I'm taking instant release and it lasted about 2.5 hrs yesterday (euphoria gone after 1 - 1.5 hrs) and I probably won't even notice when it wears off today.

I want to know if other people experience an obvious effect on concentration, or whether it's more of a subtle boost. When I took it yesterday, there was no doubt the Adderall was working and helping me concentrate. Today, it's more in the background/not an obvious effect. Do others experience something closer to my first day experience or my second day experience on a normal day on Adderall?

And for the second question, I'm asking whether it's worth it to limit my intake to once every two weeks, or whether I'd have to limit it to something like once a quarter to escape tolerance.

All I care about in life is accumulating bananas

Notamonkey... this from my med student GF: as mentioned previously, Adderall is an amphetamine-derivative and very much an 'upper.' Because of these effects on the CNS, you should be careful in randomly taking a whopping 40 mg every now and then. Even if you're a big guy, that's a sizable dose for just once or twice a month. Most people work their way up to that level. You also must be crashing horribly when that dose wears off. Be careful. Get checked for any underlying heart problems, etc. If you're going to be dosing occasionally (which is admittedly far better than developing a dependency), a lower level might be best.

If you want the euphoria, take cocaine....adderall and cocaine are chemically pretty similar. in terms of effects, adderall is cocaine without the euphoria

The amphetamine class of drugs are interesting in the way that they stimulate the CNS. In people who do not meet the full physiological criteria for ADHD, amphetamine salts tend to have a stimulating effect. Ironically, those with a clinical ADHD diagnosis tend to actually find the amphetamine salts have calming effect. If you took 40mg of Adderall and had a "mild concentration boost" I'd say that you fall into the latter category. Personally, 40 mg of Adderall would make me feel like I was having a heart attack.

Okay brahs, I'm 15, how to buy it =p~ ?

Nobody wants to work for it anymore. There's no honor in taking the after school job at Mickey D's. Honor's in the dollar, kid.

That's pretty normal actually. I took it a lot in college.

Your neurotransmitters are probably fried temporarily from the dopamine rush. Get a few hours of sleep and you should be A-OK.

When first taken it always has a high feel. When you actually have adhd it calms you so you can focus on the things presented in life and not the cardinal that just flew by the window. It helps me focus on sleeping too. I was on heavy sleeping meds before adderall and after I started now I sleep great. Idk why but I guess the body is a big chemical/electrical reaction and some people need certain things. Don't confuse euphoria and being high though. Being awake regardless of meds only come from health. Many days I still wish I could sleep but I've worked hard to get off the sleepers.
