Europe right now is proof lockdowns only delay the inevitable

Europe right now, specifically Italy and Spain, both countries who everyone was clamoring “did it right” by excessively locking down, has now only seen cases start to surge. All accounts say the virus is weaker now than at its peak and with more knowledge deaths should not spike too much.

All this shows is that lockdowns only help the short term mainly to control hospitalizations. So how does a virus get beat? The population builds immunity to it. This is the same case for every other virus. Lockdowns only make sense if you literally shut everything down until cases reach zero which we know is not realistic. Back in Mar/Apr it was lockdown to avoid a surplus of hospitalizations. Now it seems people are screaming for lockdowns every time there is a spike in cases and expecting them to be zero.
