Excel Model that keeps track of basketball statistics

Hello all,

So I need some help on how to best build a model that does the following: 1) Keeps track of the stats for all players that played in a particular game 2) Allows me to easily see the stats for any one player for all games that player has participated in 3) Easy input of stats on a per game basis.

Some ideas that come to mind are using indirects and delegating a separate tab per player...however what I think would be really cool would be to have one input sheet that has all the games played, and then an output sheet where I can type a name and see his stats for every game he has played in.

p.s. this is for the pickup games my friends and I play every so often.

Besides the fact that this is a bit ridiculous, thoughts? lol

I think this is do-able in your parameters. I don't know an easy way to do the first part.... but get the box scores for every game into a tab. I think one way to track the game (my first copy/paste didn't have team names copied...) is to insert a line after every game w/ a line that has like ["GAME TEAMS"] [WINNING TEAM] [LOSING TEAM]

In a separate sheet have the player's name (if you're really nerdy about this create a drop down list of all player names. You can do this through some array formulas which can get u each unique name once. Have the first line be the average for all games below or sum through those respective formulas. After that, you can have it find the first time the player was mentioned, second time, etc. and then work off that row # for other stats (once again, there's an array formula for this which you can feed in just the player name and Nth game). For games won versus lost and team names u can find the first "GAME TEAMS" after the player's name.

And yes I learned how to do all this while working for work related stuff..... lol

gl!!
