Explain Corporate Banking

Could someone please explain to me what corporate banking looks like compared to investment banking or corporate finance? What do corporate bankers do on a daily basis? Also, how does compensation compare? What are the best banks to work for in corporate banking?

Thank you!

I’d say in the simplest form that as Corporate Bankers, you lend money. You go to a corporate client, look at how healthy their financials are, and the you decide on the sort of loan you want to give them as well as the accompanying terms and covenants. If your client decides they need advice on M&A or capital markets related transactions then you hand over the keys to the big boys while occasionally chiming in to stay relevant while at the same time annoying the fuck out of your investment banking colleagues because your 2 minutes of input to “value-add” results in 2 all nighters for your investment banking friends.
