Far and comfortable or close and unbearable

I'm thinking about where to rent my apartment. Probably getting a studio since I've become tired of living together with roomates I don't know or barely see because of work.

Currently living within a 15 min walking distance to my office. Apartment is okay. Living with two roomates. Can hear people from the 3rd floor (I'm on the 2nd) flush their toilets. Don't want to live here anymore.

Choice 1: 1 hour -1 hour 15 minutes commute by train. Very nice apartment, affordable price, near a park.

Choice 2: ~20 min walk. Crappy apartment. The kind where you don't really want to stay inside, but close to office.

Both are within my budget.

The question really boils down to price vs. location / commute time.

What do you all think? Can't really make up my mind here.
