Favorite places to escape the city!

Where do you take off to when you want to escape the city? Aspen, Jackson Hole, Tibet, etc. whats a good trip where I can just chill in nature, drink and hike/ski. Ideally there's a lake. Fire away!

Do a ski trip to New England! While you won't have any ridiculous levels of luxury, you can hit a ton of different mountains and really get the most our of your time. Also, not super expensive and not too far from NY.

Pokhara in Nepal is a great place to escape too. Great hiking in the Annapurnas, good food and drinking by the lake, tons of culture, and close to Chitwan national park where there's elephants, jaguars, crocs, etc. Stay at the Fish Tail Lodge when you're there, there's probably some better hotels though. There's a Russian guy at the airport that gives rides in one of those tiny plane motorized glider things so you can see the mountains up close.

I stayed at a castle in Co. Leitrim in Ireland. It was in the middle of a forest right on a lake. They maintained the grounds really well — you could easily spend a day just exploring the property.

I’ve also been to the southern island Kyushu in Japan. There are some populated cities, but there’s a lot of countryside that’s absolutely beautiful.

Lakes, you say? My favorites are Königssee in Bavaria, Interlaken in Switzerland, and of course Lake Tahoe in CA.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

Davos, Switzerland nice mountain town. You'd still get your yearly Finance Conference

Hmm I'm closer to Boston but did a 4 day trip to Norway which was insane. Look up Norway in a Nutshell, the fjords are breathtaking. Recently went to Belize for a week and that was really cool. Not the best beaches, but great snorkeling & diving on the Cayes and cool hikes/caves near the boarder of Guatemala. Did a 4 day trip to Charleston, SC last May which is a really cool place to just walk around for a few days.

For places within driving distance I usually just go up to a friends place in VT/NH and snowboard for the weekend. You should check out Burlington, VT. Nice little college town on Lake Champlain and about 45 minutes to Stowe which is one the best mountains on the east, although expensive.

If you want to stay in the US, surprised no one mentioned Lake Tahoe yet. Great bang for your buck.

Interlaken, Switzerland is pretty great too but definitely a touristy spot to visit
