Gained ~10 lbs in first two months as analyst

Too much cheap chinese/mexican/american on seamless + lack of exercise. I'm actually less concerned about my physique than I am about having to redo my wardrobe if I get too fat.

What do you guys eat to stay in shape when you don't have time to work out? I tried eating a salad for dinner but I was starving by like 10pm.

  • Eat a light lunch and multiple meals (4 "meals," 2 snacks per day)
  • Hit the gym or go for a run 6 or 7 / whenever the VP's leave... provided your bank has a gym or shower facilities
  • Energy Kitchen brah

  1. no simple carbs (bread, rice, juice, soda, etc)

  2. lots of protein, veggies and good fat (beans, chicken, fish, etc)...with some complex carbs (any veggies low on glycemic index)

If you are strict about the diet and have a halfway decent metabolism, you can maintain or lose weight with very little to no exercise.

90% of battle for weight loss is just diet discipline. The way you stay disciplined is to have a ton of the right food around you at all times so you are eating a small "meal" every 2-3 hours. Otherwise, you are screwed.

Also, limit carb intake past 5pm.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.

Also, keep bottles of water around you. Whenever you feel hungry, drink a bottle. If you still feel hungry, then you actually are...so eat.

They call me TheMailMan because I always deliver.

Eat fiber. Lots of it.

"For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen."

Do you run? If not...start. Google 'couch to 5 k' if you've never run in your life. Running forces you to eat better. So you don't cramp up and feel like shit on your nightly run. It becomes addictive pretty quick and doesn't take a lot of time. Door to door...no painful moments in locker rooms.

If you get too into though you might have to look into a gym membership to do some lifting. I started to look concave (its damn hard to eat back 700 calories) so I had to get me to some free weights and muscle toning classes.

But seriously 10lbs? Easy. Run.

You do not have to live off of seamless. I have seen guys just use their meal allowance to buy 4 $5 footlongs in an effort to completely eliminate their grocery bill.

You are not a student anymore. Do not fear the occasional trip to Whole Foods/Fairway/Westside Market. A few hundred a month on groceries will not hurt your pocket book nearly as much as you think. Especially in NYC, a few meals out = a month of groceries. It is much easier to eat healthy when you are not trying to decide whether the Kung Pao Chicken or Chow Mein is less horrible for you.

wow lots of people recommending cutting out carbs...are you all on atkins or something? Do you gus eat whole wheats, fruits, etc.?

All subway footlongs are $5 this month mmmm
