Gender Studies

I can understand the value of some humanities, like history or even philosophy, but at the end of the day what value does a degree like gender studies add to society as a whole? Are there any real benefits from studying gender outside of sociology and actual science? What would motivate someone to go hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt for a degree in gender studies or art history? It makes no sense to me...

I would also advise that you study the opposite gender closely. For that the university playground is ideal. Get a formal education in something useful, though.
