General Life Advice
hey all,
im a 2024 grad from a non-target, didnt have a great GPA so struggling to get a job rn. Feel myself getting into a slump and apart from applying to jobs all day, I don't really know where to start now that I'm a college grad.
So any and all job search / general life advice appreciated. Thanks :)
Job Search Advice
Just keep going. I applied to a ridiculous amount of places during my final year of uni. I went to a terrible uni, had no summer internships beforehand, not even a spring insight week. In the UK, we can do a year in industry as part of our undergrad. I took up and worked in a completely irrelevant industry to F/S and I managed to find a grad scheme at Big4 in audit. Not the sexiest, but it did the job and helped me out a lot.
Try to find some recruitment companies that specialise in graduate recruitment. They may be able to help you out, whether it be CV review or interview prep. At the end of the day, they're incentivised to get you a job, so it's a symbiotic relationship.
Life Advice
If you can find a mentor through uni or online, go for it. They may be able to help you think through your goals.
Try to step away from the job application cycle. You could even treat it like a 9-5, but that takes some discipline. I would recommend it, though, as it really helped me when I was applying for places. I applied to 200+ in my final year and wouldn't have been able to do it without taking proper breaks, going out, going to the gym, seeing friends etc.
Keep your head up, you'll get there.
