There are some truly shitty people in the industry but this is like kicking someone in a wheelchair... making fun of an illness at work is crossing a line, both morally but also with HR. No one will say anything.

Here's the thing about shitting on people: it only works if it has merit. Is someone showing up to work thirty minutes late, not answering the phone on time, consistently overextending numbers on models, refusing to adhere to formatting, etc? Yeah, you can shit on them. They're not putting effort into their job, and they deserve to be reprimanded for that - be it by you or anyone you work with. This is one example of many - it's in their control.
Now, besides the humor element, asthma is something you can't control. We all know that, right? If I'm going to look someone in the eye and speak down to them, especially in the workplace, it's because they've done something wrong that they COULD have done right. Pretty sure you can't just 'correct' asthma. Anyone on my team that is unironically making fun of someone who has to carry an inhaler should probably evaluate where they're at in life. It's like making fun of someone with a disability, just fuckin' stupid. I'm all for humor and jokes, but I can't think of anyone I work with who is a big enough douche to do something like this.
ADA lawsuit waiting to happen. Not saying to go pull a McDonald's Hot Coffee, but sometimes pursuing a suit is, pardon the pun, legit.
